Want to get your book accepted for publication? I’d love to help!
Value
I specialize in copyedits and line edits; checking a manuscript for grammar, authentic dialogue, and audience-specific phrasing. My overall goal in editing a manuscript is to help authors improve their writing. I believe that everyone has a story to tell, and I want to help get those stories out there.
A large part of my goal, and value, is educating authors. If authors can see where their pitfalls lie and/or why certain phrases are better for one genre than another, they will be able to improve their manuscripts as they write. I want to help authors learn so when they edit themselves in the years to come, they can find more of the mistakes because they know what to look for. Polished manuscripts tend to find publishers because of their quality.
Learning more about how you write and edit, from start to end, can pay off for years. Give me the chance to help you improve your writing for the rest of your career. Writing isn’t always about getting your own voice out there—sometimes it’s about learning how to write the best you can.
Rates
I edit based on word count. My rates range from 1.5 cents a word for proofreading to 5 cents a word for a full edit, with levels in between. It may seem a bit high for copy or line editing, but it’s my specialization. For rewriting rates, contact me directly.

I’m always willing to work with clients for budget-friendly ways to get your manuscript edited. I want to be accommodating where I can.
Qualifications
I have published reviews for Christian Book Previews, The Aboite Independent, and Church Libraries, and devotions for The Secret Place, The Aboite Independent, and Fire Bible for Kids Devotional. I am currently working on a book series set in a fantasy world, a series I hope to (someday) get traditionally published.
After taking several writing and editing classes over four years, I graduated from Taylor University with a Bachelor’s in Professional Writing. Throughout those four years and the following summer, I have attended multiple writing conferences, including Write-to-Publish (Jun 2015), Realm Makers (Jul 2016), and Taylor University’s Professional Writing Conference (Aug 2016). I have also done a couple of internships in that time frame; an editing internship with Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas, and a newsletter-focused internship with Kathy Ide Book Services.
One of the most valuable classes I had in my four years at Taylor was “From Manuscript to Book.” This class was meant to show us how a publishing house worked and all that’s involved. For one semester we turned our class into a publishing house, acquiring manuscripts, editing—developmental, copy, and proofreading—and getting each manuscript ready for publication. This is the class that showed me what it is to be an editor, no matter the type of edit being performed.
The class also helped me discover the heart I have for authors. I want to encourage them in their ideas and message, even if some of the manuscript is rough. For me, it’s more about the message the author wants to give to the world than the quality of the writing. Unfortunately for all of us authors, publishers don’t agree. That’s why I want to help authors who have a desire to get their message to the world. If I can help authors learn their own writing quirks and help teach them the things they can do better and why, I can help them take another step toward publication.
Everyone has something they want to share with the world. Writing is one way to do that, and having a good editor can help an author on the road to publication.
