Value
A well-written and thought out resume or cover letter can be the difference between landing a job interview and being rejected. Not only is it important how your resume and cover letter are laid out, but it’s also important that they reflect who you are and what you’ve accomplished, along with the value you have for the recruiter’s company. These things can be difficult to balance, but when balanced well, the resume and cover letter are stronger for it.
A large part of my goal as a resume/cover letter writer is to help you learn what resumes/cover letters need to give you a better chance against the sea of other candidates submitting resumes/cover letters. As I help you with your resume/cover letter, I will show you how I am working through the information I have, and why the viewpoint I have may help the resume/cover letter along. However, I will not dictate the entire process, allowing you to be a part of the process and allowing you to express your own ideas for improving the document.
Learning more about what recruiters are looking for in a job candidate, and in a resume/cover letter, will allow you to be better prepared when applying for jobs in the future. A strong resume/cover letter will also give you a better chance at getting that first call for an interview.
Rates
I write and edit per hour, with a one hour minimum on both resumes and cover letters. My rates do differ between a resume and a cover letter, as cover letters are often more difficult to construct and edit properly. If asked, I will also do a full design through Microsoft Publisher.
Resume: $15-$25 per hour. This rate depends on my current workload, how much information is provided, and how much research (on my part) is involved.
Resume Edit: $5-$15 per hour. This rate depends on how much editing is needed throughout the resume, and would include any rewrites I feel the need to make.
Cover Letter: $20-$30 per hour. Cover letters are notoriously difficult to craft well, due to the word crafting and professional appearance and tone necessary. Rate depends on how much information I receive prior to crafting the letter, as well as any research that may need done.
Cover Letter Edit: $10-$20 per hour. Any edits or rewrites made in a cover letter will take both more reading and more discernment than a resume would.

Qualifications
After taking several writing and editing classes over four years, I graduated from Taylor University with a Bachelor’s in Professional Writing. Throughout those four years and the following summer, I have attended multiple writing conferences, including Write-to-Publish (Jun 2015), Realm Makers (Jul 2016 and Jul 2017), and Taylor University’s Professional Writing Conference (Aug 2016). I have also done a couple of internships in that time frame; an editing internship with Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas, and a newsletter-focused internship with Kathy Ide Book Services.
Both during and after college, I have needed to construct both resumes and cover letters to apply for internships and jobs. With the majority of the resumes/cover letters I submitted to companies I received a response of either yes (for an internship) or the chance to interview for the position I had applied for.
During my four years at college, I learned much about writing resumes and cover letters from many sources and many different points of view. I now know that resumes are often constructed, arranged, and worded for the specific field the applicant is applying in. As such, I am much more skilled in the field of writing, editing, and proofreading, but I am more than willing to learn about how other fields construct resumes/cover letters. Throughout these instructive periods I have also learned many tips that can be applied to a resume/cover letter, whatever field it is for.
Everyone has a career they would like to achieve, and I would love to help you achieve that goal. Sometimes it only takes the first step.
